The Secret of the Powerful Prayer Agreement

There are many kinds of prayer, right? The Prayer of Agreement is one of the most powerful.

My publisher, Keith, once told me, Brother Huggins, “Every time you’ve agreed with me in prayer, my prayer has been answered.”

Real Agreement

Most people go about the prayer of agreement the wrong way. You’ll hear them say something like, “Agree with me to be healed (or to get a job, or to get a house, or… whatever).”

When people ask me to agree with them, the first thing I ask them is “What promise are we agreeing upon?” (What scripture are we standing on)? They often give me a blank stare. “Uh, scripture?”

Then I suggest a scripture that directly addresses their need. For healing, I might say, let’s let’s use this for our point of agreement: “Who His own self bare our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness, BY WHOSE STRIPES YE WERE HEALED.” (1 P2 2:24)

Now that we have a point of agreement, I’m never going to disagree with that promise or let go.

For healing, find a healing promise. For tax money, find a tax money scripture. For a house, find a house promise… etc.

Don’t be Spiritually Lazy

Do you have a need? Search the scripture and come up with a promise that specifically addresses your need. Then ask one person who knows how to pray the prayer of agreement to agree with you based upon that single promise.

“…if TWO of you shall agree on earth as touching anything that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.” (Mat 18:19)

Cultivate a Real Prayer Relationship

To tell you the truth, we can’t know what people are going to do if we just ask them to pray for us. It may sometimes be unwise to put your business out on the street by asking dozens of people to pray for you, or people you don’t know to pray for you. They may or may not pray. They may not have faith. Their own lives may be a disaster. They may pray wrong and create confusion.

Good prayer partners are rare. Everyone needs to cultivate a relationship with a prayer partner who knows the Word and who will sincerely pray the prayer of agreement with you. When you get that real prayer partner, hold on to them for life!
