Ephesians 5:18-19
18 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit,
19 Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord.
Speaking in tongues is where we get our power as believers. It is a sign for unbelievers as well.
The songs of the Spirit come from the wellspring of the Holy Spirit inside of us from a divine union with God.
Colossians 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.”
The Word and the Spirit agree.
John 4:23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship Him.
The Holy Spirit may use a song to teach, emphasize something or give a little correction or warning.
Praying in tongues edifies you. Services where the Holy Spirit is leave you refreshed!
1 Cor.14:15 What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also; I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also.
Start off praying in the Spirit. Singing in the spirit is the highest expression of worship that God has given the church. Everyone of us can make a decision to yield to God. It is for everyone.
