The anointing of God will empower you and me for service unto Him. Jesus Christ means Jesus the Anointed One.
Acts 10:38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.
Christlike ones – anointed from God.
Your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost, made to receive and move in the anointing of God. The anointing, the dunamis power of God, is tangible. The power of God is a heavenly substance.
Ordinary people are able to do extraordinary things through the anointing of God.
2 Kings 2:9 And it came to pass, when they were gone over (the river Jordan) that Elijah said unto Elisha, Ask what I shall do for thee, before I be taken away from thee. And Elisha said, I pray thee, let a double portion of thy spirit be upon me.
Elisha was saying I want (your speech) the word that is in your mouth (portion), and your spirit. Double means a two-fold coupling, a harmony, a blending. God wants you to have a very strong connection between the Spirit and the Word. The letter kills but the Spirit gives life.
The Spirit and the Word agree. Manifest the Word, and manifest the Spirit.
1 John 5:7 There are three that bear record (or agree) in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.
John 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of Truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak; and he will shew you things to come.
The Word of God testifies of the Holy Spirit. The Word of God teaches you what your relationship should be with the Holy Ghost. Symbiosis between the Holy Spirit and the Word of God. Heaven has a hold of you, and you have a hold of Heaven; that’s a twofold coupling.
2 Corinthians 3:6 Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter (law) but of the spirit; for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.
Spend your time in the New Testament, especially the epistles because they are love letters written from God to the church. You have the new birth, the progressive revelation of the New Testament. The Spirit and the Word agree.
Romans 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are the sons of God.
Any time we hear a prophesy, or any time a prophet says something, it is our responsibility to go to the Word and check it out and see if the Spirit and the Word agree.
Here’s why you don’t want to be led by people: People can hide their intentions, be secretive, misdirect, and can deceive. People have limited knowledge. God is perfect, but humans are imperfect.
The Word of God is true, and the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Truth. You can bank on that!
The double portion is a two-fold coupling of the Spirit and the Word.
