John 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, (reality) is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
A. Walking in the Spirit is walking in love and faith. The Spirit of Truth = The Spirit of reality.
B. Have correct motivations. James 4:3 Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.
C. Walk in love. 1 Corinthians 14:1 Follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts, but rather that ye may prophesy.
THREE SIMPLE SECRETS FOR WALKING IN THE SPIRIT
- Be a Word person. Make sure you’re doing everything based on the Word of God. 1 John 5:14-15 (KJV) And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask anything according to his will, he heareth us; 15 And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that have the petitions that we desired of him
- Ask simple questions that God can answer with a simple yes or no. (Sometimes it’s a knowing, a sense or witness.) Matthew 5:37 (KJV) But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil.
- Wait on and recognize the witness of the Holy Spirit. Deuteronomy 19:15b …at the mouth of two witnesses, or at the mouth of three witnesses, shall the matter be established. John 5:31 If I bear witness of myself, my witness is not true.
Proverbs 16:7 When a man’s ways please the Lord, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.
Isaiah 30:21 And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.
Proverbs 24:16 For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief.
