Acts 1:8 But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
Acts 2:38-39 38Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the [k]remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call.”
Acts 2:14-18 14But Peter, standing up with the eleven, raised his voice and said to them, “Men of Judea and all who dwell in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and heed my words. 15For these are not drunk, as you suppose, since it is only [e]the third hour of the day. 16But this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel:
17‘And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, That I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, Your young men shall see visions, Your old men shall dream dreams. 18And on My menservants and on My maidservants
I will pour out My Spirit in those days; And they shall prophesy.
John 4:16-18 16Jesus said to her, “Go, call your husband, and come here.” 17 The woman answered and said, “I have no husband.” Jesus said to her, “You have well said, ‘I have no husband,’ 18for you have had five husbands, and the one whom you now have is not your husband; in that you spoke truly.”
John 4:27-30 27And at this point His disciples came, and they marveled that He talked with a woman; yet no one said, “What do You seek?” or, “Why are You talking with her? 28The woman then left her waterpot, went her way into the city, and said to the men, 29“Come, see a Man who told me all things that I ever did. Could this be the Christ?” 30Then they went out of the city and came to Him.
Romans 8:14 14For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.
John 6:44 44No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up at the last day.
1 Corinthians 14:14 14For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my understanding is unfruitful.
1 Corinthians 14:1-3 1Pursue love, and desire spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy. 2For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one understands him; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries. 3But he who prophesies speaks edification and exhortation and comfort to men.
Prophecy – interpreting the divine will and purposes of God, speaking as the oracles of God.
Three gifts that reveal something: word of knowledge, word of wisdom (future), discerning of spirits.
Three gifts that say something: divers tongues, interpretation of tongues, prophecy.
Three gifts that do something: working of miracles, gifts of healings, gift of extraordinary faith.
1 Corinthians 14:31 31For you can all prophesy one by one, that all may learn and all may be encouraged.
Ephesians 4:11-12 11And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, 12for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the [e]edifying of the body of Christ…
Romans 12:6 6Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, let us prophesy in proportion to our faith; (don’t go beyond what God says.)
Romans 10:17 17So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word (rhema – now word) of God.
Witness – provide corroborating evidence jointly by sounding together, i.e., saying the same thing.
Galatians 5:6 6For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but faith working through love.
Romans 5:5-6 5Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.
Colossians 3:15 15And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful.
