2 Cor. 10:4 for the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds.
Resist the devil and he will flee from you as if in terror. Resisting like pushing back, not passive.
When we don’t honor God with our tithes and offerings, we are robbing God of an opportunity to bless us because His will is for us to have life superabundantly.
Malachi 3:8-12 Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings. 9 Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation. 10 Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. 11 And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the Lord of hosts. 12 And all nations shall call you blessed: for ye shall be a delightsome land, saith the Lord of hosts.
Psalm 24:1 The earth is the Lord’s, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.
God owns it all. We return the first fruit, the tithe (10%) to Him. An offering is something over and above the tithe.
Proverbs 3:9-10 Honor the Lord with thy substance, and with the first fruits of all thine increase; 10 So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.
Jesus has redeemed us from the curse of the Law, but He has not redeemed us from the Blessings. Tithing is a blessing!
Lord of Hosts – Captain of the Angels.
There is a military component to tithes and offerings. Tithes and offerings are weapons for us. Let’s be militant givers!
The principle of tithing started in the garden of Eden.
Genesis 2:16-17 And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat; 17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
Joshua 7:11 Israel hath sinned, and they have also transgressed my covenant which I commanded them: for they have even taken of the accursed thing, and have also stolen, and dissembled also, and they have put it even among their own stuff.
Jesus endorsed tithing.
Matthew 23:23 Woe unto you scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess.
Abraham gave tithes to Melchisedec, 400 years before the law.
Hebrews 7:1 For this Melchisedec, king of Salem, priest of the most high God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him;
1 Cor. 16:2 Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come.
Tithing was before the law, during the law and after the law. It didn’t end at Calvary, it continued.
The tithe could be considered a Nadar – vow.
Ecclesiastes 5:4 When thou vowest a vow unto God, defer not to pay it; for he hath no pleasure in fools: pay that which thou hast vowed.
Money is a commodity; it is neutral.
1 Timothy 6:10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
Tithing is a spiritual weapon. It opens the windows of heaven. The angels minister to us.
Glory goes to God when you tithe and puts pressure on the devil.
The tithe continues to bring blessing to us.
We are free to honor God and return our tithe.
