You Can Have the Genuine Double Portion
March 27, 2021I Hear The Rain by Sabrina Calhoun
April 2, 2021In the year 2000, my wife and I held a historic miracle crusade in Leon, Mexico, which has continued as a conference every year. Here’s how it started.
I was preaching in a church in California. It had a cavernous sanctuary with a very high ceiling, decorated with flags from different nations.
During the worship service, the Holy Spirit whispered to my spirit. “Look up. I’ll show you where your next miracle crusade will be.”
Right above my head was the flag of Mexico.
I said to myself, “Okay, Holy Spirit, my next crusade will be in Mexico, but where in Mexico?
For the next few days, as I prayed about where to go in Mexico, the name, Leon, came to me repeatedly. I said, “Okay, Holy Spirit, Leon must be a city in Mexico.”
I’d never heard of Leon so I looked it up on a map, and I found out that Leon is a large, industrial city in central Mexico.
Then I said, “Okay, Holy Spirit, my next crusade will be in Leon. Now you’ll have to help me put it together.”
Afterward, I called the pastor from the church with the flags. I asked him, “Pastor, do you have a young Mexican-American man in your church, who is Spirit-filled, mature in the word, bilingual, and single, who can travel to Leon, Mexico, for a few days, to help me organize a crusade?
“Yes,” said the pastor. “You’ve just described Robert, my Spanish pastor. I’ll give him your number so you can talk to him, and if he agrees, I’ll loan him to your ministry for a couple of weeks.”
Robert didn’t just call me. He drove an hour to meet me in person.
When we got down to business, I said, “Robert, if you’re open to helping, your pastor has agreed to loan you to my ministry for two weeks. The Holy Spirit is leading me to Leon, Mexico, to hold my next miracle crusade. Robert, I’ve never been to Leon, Mexico. The name Leon came to me while I was praying. What I need from you is for you to travel to Leon, Mexico. I want you to make cold calls to as many pastors as you can in Leon and invite them to a free banquet that I will host. I also want you to organize the banquet. Once you have a place and a date for the banquet, I’ll travel to Leon to share my vision with the Pastors. I’ll ask them if they will help me hold a miracle crusade in Leon.
As I was yet talking, Robert started laughing.
I asked, “What’s funny?
He said, “You don’t know this, but I’m from Leon, Mexico. I was born in Leon. I have aunts, uncles, and cousins in Leon. I don’t even need a hotel. I’ll stay with my family in Leon.”
Well, Robert went to Leon, Mexico, and did what I asked him to do.
He organized a banquet with 21 pastors. I flew to Leon to host the banquet and to share my vision for a Miracle Crusade.
I said to the pastors, “You don’t know me, but let me talk to you for a few minutes, and you can decide what the Holy Spirit is saying to you.”
Five minutes after I started preaching, the Holy Spirit filled the room, and all the pastors began to weep. Each one confirmed the Holy Spirit wanted them to be part of the crusade.
I found out three things that day. There had never been a major crusade in Leon, the pastors didn’t get along, and they had never before united over anything!
So, we held our miracle crusade, and it was a great success. The Holy Spirit blessed us with several thousand people and with miracles in every service.
The crusade has continued as an annual conference under the leadership of the Mexican pastors ever since. It’s grown every year and has gained international recognition. Governors, and even a sitting President of Mexico, have attended the conference.
We can say from experience; the Leon miracle crusade changed Mexico. Out of it grew a strong minister’s association, several bible schools, hundreds of ordained ministers, many new church plants, and a multitude of changed lives.
My wife and I lived in Mexico for a few years to help shepherd the revival that began in Leon. We both traveled extensively and ministered throughout Mexico.
Robert didn’t do it all, but he did his part, and the part he did was invaluable. He helped us organize a ground-breaking, miracle crusade in Leon, Mexico, that is yet bearing fruit and will continue to bear fruit for years to come.
The steps we took to organize the Leon Crusade are standard operating procedures for us. We believe the Present-day Charismatic Revival is online, and we believe the Holy Spirit has positioned ZChurch to be part of that revival.
