March 7, 2024Que hay en el nombre
March 14, 2024ZChurch Message for March 9, 2024 (full service: • What’s in a Name? )
Drawing inspiration from Shakespeare’s timeless question, Pastor Loretta Huggins explores “What’s in a Name?” In Proverbs 18:10, we are reminded that “The name of the Lord is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.” This scripture underscores the immense power and protection found in His name. As we reflect on this truth, we’ll uncover the impact of invoking the name of the Lord in our lives, finding refuge and strength in His presence.
____________
Proverbs 18:10 KJV The name (position, status) of the Lord is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.
The Name of the Lord is a safe place – to be placed so high, too high to be captured. The Name of the Lord is so powerful, it puts you out of reach of your enemy.
Genesis 2:19-20 KJV And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called (appointed; proclaimed, summoned) every living creature, that was the name thereof. 20 And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him.
Name = Adam gave the animals a position in God’s creation. He was giving them their place, their status, their ability, what they can do. A name gives authority, character, characteristics, ability, status.
Psalm 107:2 Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy.
Psalm 34:19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the Lord delivereth him out of them all.
Ruth 1:20 And she said unto them, Call me not Naomi (pleasant) call me Mara (bitter): for the Almighty hath dealt very bitterly with me.
2 Corinthians 1:8 For we would not, brethren, have you ignorant of our trouble which came to us in Asia, that we were pressed out of measure, above strength, insomuch that we despaired even of life:
2 Samuel 12:24-25 And David comforted Bathsheba his wife, and went in unto her, and lay with her: and she bare a son, and he called his name Solomon (peace) and the Lord loved him. 25 And he sent by the hand of Nathan the prophet; and he called his name Jedidiah (beloved of God); because of the Lord.
Mark 5:9 And he asked (confronting him), What is thy name? And he answered, saying, My name is Legion: for we are many.
John 8:44 (NKJV) You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.
Philippians 2:9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name.
