The Monkey In Your Mind

June 28, 2025Let’s face it, you’ve got a monkey in your mind. We all do.
That voice in your head that won’t stop? That’s called the inner narrator, and that’s the reason it’s hard to hear God’s voice. All of your doubts come from the monkey mind.
He’s noisy. He’s nervous. He’s negative.
And worst of all? He’s convincing, and he’ll flood your mind with a thousand reasons why the promises of God are for everyone, except you.
He reminds you of what went wrong, what might go wrong, and what’s probably already wrong (even when nothing’s wrong).
He’s got you swinging between fear and pride, doubt and distraction, all day long.
And here’s the real danger: He doesn’t believe a single word God says. Not one.
The monkey in your head is God’s enemy.
Because the carnal mind (monkey mind) is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. (Rom 8:7)
The Loop
There’s a loop inside your brain. A real speech circuit. It hears, interprets, forms language, and spits out thought after thought. That’s where the monkey lives.
And here’s how he works.
He talks in reciprocals.
He flips every word: up becomes down, in becomes out, yes becomes no…
That’s his game. That’s his language.
But here’s what shuts him down.
He has no reciprocal for tongues.
He doesn’t understand it. He can’t flip it. He can’t argue with it. And he absolutely can’t stand it.
When you pray or sing in the Spirit, you give the monkey nothing to respond to. The loop breaks. The noise stops and the Holy Spirit takes the mic.
“For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful.” (1 Cor 14:14)
It Works Every Time
Not sometimes. Not theoretically. Every single time.
Confused? Pray in tongues. Anxious? Sing in tongues. Stuck in a loop of fear, doubt, or shame? Tongues will interrupt the pattern.
Praying in tongues is not a warmup. It’s not filler.
It’s your override switch.
You Can’t Reason With the Monkey
Don’t argue with your monkey. You won’t win. He knows your weak spots. He knows all the tricks you always fall for. And he’s fluent in your voice.
So stop trying to outthink him.
Renew your mind with the Word of God.
Pray in the Spirit.
Sing in the Spirit.
Drown the monkey out with truth and praise.
